The Berlinquents are a bombenscharf queer hip hop comedic dance troupe. We use popular and political hip hop music, drag, martial arts, video, singing, comedy and dance to reclaim public spaces for creativity and to make people laugh and smile. We have performed at HAU1, for the Hundred Grad Festival, Berlin Pride, The Schwules Museum as part of Die Lange Nacht der Museen, Oslo Queer Festival, The Kiss me and Cry for Me Festival, and at McDonalds, IKEA, Sparkasse and on the streets and subways of Berlin.
Our current show, The Divine Travesty, combines song, live dance, and video of our street theatre performances in public spaces around the city. It includes a music video from an original song.
Berlinquency and the Berlinquents are about fun, laughing, fitness, queering up society and beautifying our streets, about distracting people from consumerism to consider art and gender issues, and we are all about glitter and sequins.
